As we were congratulating her, something about Kamala’s contorted facial expression tipped us off. She wasn’t talking about abortion but about “recent evidence that the U.S. Border Patrol has been patrolling the U.S. border.”
Confused, we asked if she were sure an investigation would be appropriate.
“We’ve got to get to the root cause of this treatment!”
The head of the border task force was already tasked with getting to the root cause of such treatment. Since you’re the head of the border task force, aren’t you calling for an investigation into yourself?
“The whole point is that we have to understand Haiti.”
Ok, do you understand Haiti?
“We really have to do a lot more to recognize that as a member of the western hemisphere, we’ve got to support some very basic needs that the people of Haiti have to get back up.”
Ok, will you be doing more to recognize those things?
“Talk about a country that has just experienced so much tragedy, that has been about natural disasters, the head of state assassinated…”
As the head of the border task force, you can actually do something about these problems. Why are you calling for more talk as if you had no power to do anything yourself?
At this point in the interview, Ms. Harris’ blinked, closed her folder, and was led away by two large women wearing pink baseball caps. We didn’t get a chance to ask the head of the border task force if she would ever be actually visiting the border.
